What is da Vinci Surgery?
da Vinci Surgery is an effective, minimally invasive treatment alternative for treating gynecologic cancer, fibroids and endometriosis.
Robotic-assisted gynecologic procedures
- da Vinci Myomectomy
- da Vinci Hysterectomy
- da Vinci treatment of endometriosis
- da Vinci ovarian cystectomy
“The da Vinci Robot is a tool that allows me to do much more complicated surgery laparoscopically. That means the incisions are one-half inch or less. The vast majority of patients go home on the same day as the surgery. Most of them take only one or two doses of prescription pain medication. Many are back to their regular activities in 1 to 2 weeks.
Da Vinci surgery is not truly robotic by strict definition because the robot does not act independently. I am performing the surgery, and the robot is holding some of the instruments where I place them. I use the da Vinci Robot for hysterectomies, myomectomies (removal of fibroids), treatment of endometriosis, and removalĀ of benign ovarian tumors. My patients with da Vinci surgery have had less blood loss, less pain, and no infections or major complications.”
