Katie Shapiro, M.D.
Born and educated in the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Shapiro studied at Oregon Health Sciences University for medical school and the University of British Columbia for residency. She came to California in 1988 to start practicing. Over the years, she has collaborated with multiple colleagues but remained dedicated to her ideals of individualized and personal care. She has been Chair of her department at Seton Medical Center since 2012. Dr. Shapiro is married with three grown daughters. Her many interests outside of medicine include raising oriental lilies, bicycling, kayaking and playing the bassoon.
Dr. Shapiro has extensive training and experience in minimally invasive surgical techniques such as hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and robotic-assisted daVinci laparoscopy. She has worked closely with interventional radiologists in order to refer appropriate patients for UFE (uterine fibroid embolization).
Dr. Shapiro continues to love her work as she learns new techniques to offer her patients.
